Today the Phillip Island Classic is recognised as one of the largest historic motor racing events in the world with up to 600 entries from eminent national and international drivers.

For the VHRR it is the 21st year of this historic event but importantly it is also the celebration of the 100th year of the Alfa Romeo with special vehicles arriving for the event, some of which have never before been seen in Australia.

Another feature of the event will be special races with up to 40 Formula 5000’s on the Phillip Island circuit.

A confirmed entry of over 500 competing vehicles for the third consecutive year has cemented the VHRR’s Phillip Islands Classic Festival of Motor Sport as one of the world’s great classic motorsport meetings.

The 48-event weekend programme includes capacity fields in most categories, headed by races for Group Sa, Sb and Sc Production Sports Cars that account for nearly 100 entries alone.

It is a ‘not to be missed’ event for all motor sports enthusiasts.

About the Victorian Historic Racing Register

The VHRR was established in 1976 to promote Historic Motor Racing in Victoria. It also assists with its growth throughout Australia. Race meetings and speed events are held though-out each year, giving owners and enthusiasts of historic racing cars the opportunity to enjoy these great vehicles of the past.

The club has been so successful over the years that meetings held at the Grand Prix Circuit at Phillip Island in February/March, and at Sandown Park in November, now attract some of the most awe-inspiring cars from Australia, New Zealand, and the rest of the world. We regularly see cars from the UK, USA, Germany, Hong Kong etc. Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, BRM, Maserati, Cooper, Jaguar, HMW, Maybach, MG, Lago Talbot, plus many Australian specials.
